Student Leading

Today's assignment will be for students to lead class discussion. We'll break into our groups, and each group will focus on a segment of this week's reading. After discussion with your group you'll identify key points in the reading (1-3), along with supporting evidence, and lead the class in a short (5-10 minutes, plus Q&A) discussion about the reading.

Reading: Weeks 2 & 3

Manning Marable's Living Black History is an important text that helps us understand the dynamics of our contemporary socio-political and economic environment as it pertains to the everyday making of history. Please check your email for Chapter 1 of Living Black History, "Living Black History: Black Consciousness, Place, and American's Master Narrative."

Be sure to annotate your reading and bring the reading to class on Friday.  We'll review, address themes, and work in groups to more thoroughly understand Marable's work.

Welcome

Welcome to our class blog...

On this blog, we'll work to develop strengths in critical reading, critical thinking, verbal communication and written expression in order to engage in well-informed and meaningful discussions of the Black family in the United States in the context of a global economy. We'll do all of this by sharing ideas, articles music, and insights on what we've learned via responses to various discussion questions.

Check back often...
